As one of the regions with the greatest potential for renewable energy development in the world, Southeast Asia is still accelerating the deployment of renewable energy production capacity. Under the ASEAN Action Plan for Energy Cooperation 2021-2025 (APAEC), its second phase aims to achieve 35% of renewable energy generation in installed capacity by 2025. This means that around 35-40GW (7-8GW per year) of solar and wind capacity will need to be deployed during this period, with this likely to increase further when it updates its power development plans in the coming years.
Among them, Thailand's photovoltaic installed capacity target is to reach 6GW by 2036. As of the end of 2021, Thailand's total photovoltaic installed capacity has exceeded 3GW.
Malaysia has added 312MW of photovoltaic installed capacity in 2021, and the current total photovoltaic installed capacity reaches 1.79GW.
he Philippines has added 304MW of photovoltaic installed capacity in 2021, and the current total photovoltaic installed capacity reaches 1.37GW.
Although Indonesia's current total photovoltaic installed capacity is not high, according to estimates from the Indonesian Ministry of Energy, its installed capacity can reach 400GW, with huge potential.
